Resumes – Including Hobbies and Interests?
September 22, 2010This is an easy one. Forget hobbies and interests. Employers really don’t care what you do in your spare time. It doesn’t matter to an employer if you like going to the movies or reading novels.
The old thinking used to be that employers wanted to see if a prospective employee was “well rounded”. In 2010, they only care that you can do the job!
The exceptions would be if you are involved in volunteer or charitable work or if your hobby requires a certain level of skill, such as piloting a plane.
Otherwise, less is more on a resume!
